A Day To Myself
Tomorrow is the first day we start to prep our models. My entire day tomorrow will be dedicated to hair. First Danielle, then Brandi, and then when I get home I promised my roommate I would cut his hair for him. Then Sunday will be my last Sunday spent in school!
Things are a bit stressful for me right now but I've been enjoying my time off. I've barely been at home all week. It's funny how after 6 months of go-go-go you can't seem to "rest" on your days off anymore. I'm so used to being busy now that I can't stand to sit around the house for more than a few hours if I'm not being proactive in that time. Not to mention I feel like there's always something I could be/should be doing, IE: laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, cooking, etc. Just the ordinary every-day activities that I've barely been doing for the last 6 months.
Today I decided it would be a good "me" day so I went out to East Van for a photowalk, then headed over to Trout Lake to enviously watch other people play with their adorable dogs. It always makes me smile to see happy animals playing.
I ended my afternoon by picking up a few groceries, a bottle of wine, and then headed home to start on a pasta sauce.

After dinner was all said and done I basically just sat around and played guitar for a solid hour or two. I even sat there and drew for a bit while listening to/partially watching Old School. I even painted my nails, filled out my limited entry hunts, and went and got an icecream.
It was just one of those days where everything I did made me so relaxed and happy. Definitely something I needed. I still have to blog about Florence And The Machine and about the hair show I was in last night buuuuuut not today.
I think today was the first day since October where I didn't have some sort of agenda. I can't even explain how awesome that was. Now if only I wasn't still trying to fight off this cold.

Polka-Dotted House.

Tulips are my favourite.

I see this house almost every weekend when I pick up a friend. I have completely fallen in love with it so I finally took a picture of it today. It's the cutest house I've ever seen! I could totally live in East Van. It's the most adorable area.

I was obsessed with this dog - a Rhodesian Ridgeback. They're just so pretty. I'm mostly just a big fan of "weird/unique/different" things, so I just love that the hair on these dogs spines grows in the opposite direction as the rest of their fur.

It's All Coming To An End
Today was our final exam. That's it, the exams are over. No more tests, no more grading our work. It's done aside from our final presentation.
I can't even begin to describe what I'm feeling right now. I'm a weird bundle of emotions at this point. This has been the most insane 6 months of my life.
Some of the girls went out to have a few beers to celebrate, and I honestly just wanted to go home. Not only is my throat sore but I'm just exhausted. When I finished everything and I was graded it was like everything that has consumed my life for the last 6 months was completely released. I actually almost cried I was so relieved. 6 months of stress, gone.
I got 91% on my final exam (combined mark for both the written and practical.) It's a great mark and I'm very proud of myself, although there were a few points docked for things that make me a little angry. Ie: a frizzier blow dry on a Judy that's been my chemical doll for the last 3 months. Needless to say adding yet another perm to her and more highlights is cause for serious damage and I was docked 3 marks out of 30 for that. It's really not much, but I'm a prissy bitch what can I say? hah. I was also docked another mark on my skip waves since unfortunately my Judy did not have long enough hair to do pin curls with on my second skip wave. But I'm happy knowing that the 4 marks docked were things that were out of my control, but still a little frustrated knowing I could have done better.
This is pretty much it though. This is where I start taking this incredibly new path in my life which is bizarre to think about. Something I've wanted for years and it's finally becoming a reality. It's all a little hard to believe I suppose.
Mostly I'm sad that I won't get to see my favourite girls every weekend. They've all become a huge part of my life. There's a few in particular that have become really amazing friends so that's been really cool.
All in all, I'd say it was all worth it. It's been a lot of fun and a lot of stress. A lot of sleepless nights and a lot of endless weeks on end before getting a day off. There's been a lot of ups, a few downs, a few days where I wanted to scream and cry out of frustration, and a few days where I did scream and cry out of frustration. There's been days where drop-kicking Judy was all I wanted to do, and days where I would talk ever-so-sweetly to my little creepy doll.
And tonight when I got home and sat down to start writing this, I did start to cry a little bit. I guess it's comparable to a time when you're constantly on edge while you anxiously wait to hear possibly good or possibly bad news... and then you get the news you're waiting for and it's good news and your little heart settles right back into place and that heaviness is lifted... it's like that. It's just a huge, huge relief.
I think I'm going to have something to eat and then go to bed. No work for me tomorrow, possibly not for a few more days. The shop is dead again for a bit so it gives me some time to just relax and get my grad show ready, and take a huge breath and enjoy a couple of nice days off. Maybe I'll go for a walk around the seawall or something. There's a few pictures I've wanted to take in the last while so maybe I'll go do that. I've also got a few resumes I was going to put in somewhere so here goes nothing!

Suck It Copper
It's total crunch time and instead of studying I'm blogging. Don't worry, studying is definitely on my list of things to do tonight/all week.
I graduate in 18 days. Eighteen fricking days. I can't even begin to comprehend how fast that is going to go by. It doesn't quite seem real yet aside from this buttload of work. We finished our final chapter test yesterday and in one week we have our final exam... which I have yet to actually study for since we were still doing other tests and I was putting forth an effort to study for those.
On Thursday I went and donated blood and thankfully this time around I felt great. I ate a lot during the day and drank a lot of water so no puking for me! Yay! I went home and took it easy for the rest of the night but then went to work as normal on Friday morning. I naturally have a lower iron level it seems since the last few times I've donated my iron levels were on the lower end of the spectrum. I fail the first test but pass the second one. I could definitely feel the lack of iron on Friday at work because I nearly fainted numerous times. I tried to take it easy as possible but unfortunately it was a really busy day with lots to do. Instead of going home at the end of the day and going to bed I decided to stick with the original plan of going out with Lisa and Jamie. I had booked a "night off" from the insanity. Lisa has been seeing this guy named Dan and he has a band called "Waiting For Sunday." We picked up a few cheap tickets and went down to the Bourbon for some drinks and good music.

So... sidetrack storytime: Last week we had a substitute instructor who really wanted someone to change their hair. He told me I should bleach out my shaved patch. Me being me didn't really give a shit and said sure since I was the salon coordinator and wasn't doing anything anyways. Yeah, long story short, I looked bald, it was aaaaawful. So we had to fill the hair with a colour but I couldn't go back to dark since you can't put my dark colour on a blonde without the colour going muddy, so I settled for red and fixed it this past Sunday. Ugh, the guys at work were calling me pumpkin patch hahaha.

Saturday morning I woke up and sounded like a man, as per ushe after a night out. I didn't feel too bad though, tired but not super hungover or anything. I ate a breakfast sandwich and was fine in terms of hangover but thanks to my stupidity and having lost a pint of blood a day and a half prior I was definitely feeling weird. I couldn't focus on anything all day, I walked around like a complete zombie, and I would barely even be able to hold a conversation. At one point I actually sat down at the sink, put my hand where you would normally put your neck, and then laid my head down on my hand and started to fall asleep. My instructor told me I should just go home but there was an hour left of class so it was pointless really seeing as how it would ruin my perfect attendance record. (Yeah I'm a total school nerd.)
Well, I should have just went home because the next morning I ended up being late anyways... thanks to being pulled over and being given a massive speeding ticket. Now, funny story time. So I'm driving along, I get completely busted by a BIKE cop, not even a real cop, a fucking bike cop who was parked on the sidewalk hiding behind a bus-stop. He literally ran into traffic to stop everyone then proceeded to tell me to pull over. I was in a bad mood already since I woke up to 25 emails that informed me I had a virus and then this. Not only was I speeding but I still have my N and didn't have it up. Ticket me again officer, I like it when you rape me up the ass like that.
So at this point I already knew I was fucked so I didn't bother trying to argue it, but what he did next pissed me off SO bad I actually started to lose it a little. It was Sunday morning, which is our mornings where we get to do eachothers hair for 2 hours. 2 hours is a lot of time to kill so typically I don't put on makeup at home I just sleep in a little longer and then do my makeup and hair when I get to class. Apparently, when I'm not wearing makeup and don't have my hair done I look like I was out all night at the bar or something because he proceeded to ask me if I'd been out drinking the night before, to which I replied "no" because I hadn't been.
He went on to ask "When was your last drink?" and I was like "I had one beer at dinner yesterday around 6pm, I wasn't out drinking last night." He responds, "I'll be right back." and goes to his stupid little bike and pulls out a breathalizer. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!
It's 9am on a fucking Sunday and just because I was speeding and look like shit you're going to give me a breathalizer.
At this point I lost my patience. I already knew I was going to get the ticket, I didn't want to even argue it because there was absolutely no way anyone could have gotten out of that ticket and I was late for school so I just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible, but then he has to go and pull this stupid stunt. So he comes back and stands there playing with this thing and he goes "I'm going to have you blow into this and hold for blah blah blah blah *goes on to explain how it works*," so I finally interrupted and went "Are you fucking kidding me, well lets do it then because I'm in a hurry and I already know what that test will tell you." So he leans it into my window and I blow into the stupid thing for however many seconds as he goes "keep going, keep going, keep going." I wanted to punch him in the face. Then he looks at it and it obviously tells him I have a zero blood alcohol level and he goes "okay you're good." ... to which I not-so-politely responded with "Yeah, just like I told you the first fucking time."
So he brought my ticket back and I went on my way. Argh I'm still pissed off about the breathalizer thing. I want to find a way to bring that up because he literally had ZERO reason to believe that I'd been drinking the night before outside of the fact that I looked like shit. I didn't smell like alcohol, there wasn't any alcohol in the car, nothing. So that was complete and total bullshit. Talk about an insult though, "oh she looks like shit, she must have been drunk last night." Asshole.
Anyways, so needless to say I now owe $477 bucks to the pigs. I am however going to try to dispute it and hope that the ratard has something better to do with his day than to show up in court. If that fails, I have a few other things I'm going to try haha.
So... tomorrow I have to start work at 5am and work until 10, then I come home, get ready, and go to the salon to start my work experience. I have Thursday and Friday off of work but will be doing work experience at the salon from 12pm to 8pm. Then I will be coming home to study for my final exam that's on Monday.
On Saturday morning my new roommate moves in... who, by the way, is ridiculously good looking. I hadn't met him yet before I told him he could move in (crazy right?) so when I went to meet him I saw two guys standing there, one white guy, one brown guy. His name is Miguel so I automatically assumed he'd be the brown guy... yeah, turns out he was the hot white guy. I'm hoping he's got a girlfriend, is gay, or is a big fan of Ed Hardy, but based on my first initial impression - he's none of those. Nah it'll be all fine and dandy I'm sure.
So that's about all that's happened this week. Now you won't hear from me for at least another week, maybe even two. I can't even begin to tell you how badly I want to be done school. I'm exhausted and miss having even one day off every two weeks.

Spilled Drinks.
So inappropriate haha. Not sure why but we were doing this all night...
The ever-so-gorgeous Jamie.
This picture makes me go "awe" everytime.
... Where as this picture makes me laugh everytime. Lisa looks like she has a total anorexic arm haha.

Daft Punk Is Playing At My House
Not gonna lie... I got nothin'.
Shaved the side of my head a few weeks ago. Well, technically it is undercut, so that's what we'll call it. And it wasn't "shaved" it was done with scissors so whatever I guess. It's close enough.

Phil came over Thursday night and left this morning. It really sucked going back to school this morning after having that day off. It was the first one in three weeks, and it'll be my last one for another month. I can't even begin to explain how much you appreciate having a full day to just sleep in, make a nice breakfast, and then head out and find shit to do with your day. No plans, no "I'll meet you there when I'm off work/school" crap, just an entire day to hang out with good company and figure it out as you go along. It did however suck balls that it was such shitty weather.
Thursday night we didn't do too much since he arrived quite late. Friday though we slept until 9 which was aaaaawesome, and then got up and had a wicked crepe breakfast, played guitar and made some decisions as to where we wanted to go for the day. We were planning on going to the zoo but the weather ruined that so we settled on the aquarium instead... but the line up ruined that so we went out for a drive and checked out some other random places in the city. After that we ended up going to Bon's off Broadway and having a 3 dollar breakfast for dinner. How can you go wrong with that? Seriously, it was great! We rented some movies but then ended up watching comedy stuff instead of watching the movies we rented. Oh well, I guess I'll have something to watch this week before bed times. So that ended up being a nice visit.
I actually went grocery shopping for the first time in probably a month. It's pathetic but I've barely eaten much at home in the past while. If I do I eat a lot of pasta because I always have sauces in the freezer and it's the quickest/easiest thing to make when you're tired or running short on time. That or sandwiches. But... today I finally bought a bunch of healthy foods and plan on making some serious salads. Hopefully my body doesn't freak out and shit ten thousand times after I eat my first salad in a long time, cause that wouldn't be very cool.

I'm pretty sure Pat and I just came up with a pretty rad idea for a Good Friday episode of Southpark. It would involve Cartman's mom shooting mini eggs out of her vagina like a machine gun every time she queefs. It could be called "Death by Chocolate." Yeah. Pat and I are totally copyrighting that shit.
Tomorrow night is Easter. I haven't even phoned my family yet to wish them a happy Easter. I have a feeling I'll forget tomorrow too. I guess we'll see. Since I have no family here I will be spending my Easter with friends. During the Olympics I met a girl in the bathroom at the bar and we made friends somehow, and actually continue to talk hah. Weird right? So, she invited me to have dinner with her and some friends out in Tsawwassen and play some games. Originally I was going to go, but then Jamie called me up and asked if I wanted to do Easter dinner at the Cambie. Pretty sure that's more awesome, so Cambie it is.
It's been a pretty casual weekend so far but I have had more fun than I've had in awhile, (outside of the Olympics of course.) Well, I'm also technically combining tomorrows potential awesomeness with the last couple of days of awesomeness so I'm foreshadowing the "I've had more fun than I've had in awhile" thing.
Today I did my first perm on a real person. It turned out great actually and wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be. That's about all that's new on that front.
I'm exhausted though and have some sleeping to attend to, so I think I'll go do that now.
Happy Easter everyone!
