Disaster Pit

This blog might as well just be a hair blog because I seem to talk enough about hair that it's more than likely mentioned at least once or twice a month... even more so now.

I had the worst day ever for clients today. My first client was booked an hour before we book appointment (not quite sure why but it was a screw up on someones behalf) and unfortunately I HAD to have my hair dyed today for Katie-Rose's hair project tomorrow, so I handed her over to someone else which was kind of shitty but oh well, things happen right?

My second client actually made me cry. I'm not even joking. She was the worst client I could have possibly had on a day like today. I have always done great highlights and today I had to do a root highlight touch up and I was instructed to do my foils a different way than I would normally do them. Of course doing them this way was something new to me and I couldn't get close enough to the root. In fact I was so far away from the root that it didn't even look like I had done them at all. Ungh. So even though I was already upset about this I asked my instructor what to do and went back out to fix it. She couldn't understand why I couldn't get close enough to the root the way I did it but if she had my client in her chair I'm sure she would have understood.

She would not stop moving. She kept turning her head when I was putting foils in so that SHE could see what I was doing and every time she did it the foil would slip out and I'd either have to start over again or it would hang a little more loosely (which causes it to not be close enough to the root but also potential fuck ups.) It was so frustrating. I asked her numerous times to hold her head still and she still wouldn't. It didn't help that she was picking her hands (yes you read that correctly) SO badly that they were actually BLEEDING. Ugh.

She was on her blackberry texting the whole time and kept putting her headphones in.... of course everytime she went to use her phone she would move some more or her head would be looking way down when I needed it to be looking up. So again I would grab her head and tilt it to where I needed it to be and she would still go right back to where she was.

Then after the whole re-doing of the colour I washed her out and went to do her haircut and she proceeded to tell me what a rush she was in and rudely asked "how long is this going to take? I have somewhere to be soon."

UGH. Are you fucking kidding me? I was sooo upset that I was actually shaking while I was doing her haircut. I wanted to fucking give up and ask my instructor to do it instead but I fought through it and finished it. The cut I was doing requires each section to be blow dryed as you cut it as well, to which she proceeded to tell me "I don't have time for you to blowdry every single section. Can you NOT do it that way?"

I wanted to be like "Could you NOT be a giant c-u-next-tuesday?!?" UGH. It was horrible.

I finally just said fuck it and rushed through her haircut so I could get her out of my chair as fast as I could. I needed my instructor to come check things over before I could let her leave and she was already putting her stuff on and wouldn't even sit down when my instructor came over. I think the teacher sensed the horrible situation and just went "yeah you're good" and sent her on her way.

Literally as soon as she walked out the door I sat down and everyone just looked at me and was like "whoa wtf was her deal?!" and I started to cry. I have never had this happen. Then when she was ready to leave she goes "It's so great I love it, Thank you!" and gave me a 10 dollar tip. I was so friggen confused.

On top of it all she was a walk-in client and I gladly took her even though I knew it would cause me to miss my lunch so I didn't eat at all today until about 6pm. I had an iced tea this morning, that was it. It did not help my frustration/bitchiness/upset emotions.

UGH. Just awful. I also had my new roommate start moving stuff in today so I was trying to communicate with her to get her to come grab the key off of me etc etc. It was just a major pain in the ass day I suppose. I am excited to have a new roommate though. She won't actually be sleeping here until next weekend but it's exciting none-the-less.

In other news though I had my hair dyed today to prep for tomorrows hair makeover! I'm super excited about that. So here's a sneak peak of the colour:

My new hair accessorie/broach from Forever 21. 10 bucks and SO cute. I want to wear it all the time. I so enjoy school for this reason cause I can wear stuff like this and not feel completely ridiculous or overdone.
s
Anyways... to end the horrible day we all went to the Cambie for a couple of beers. I was trying to do Lisa's hair this morning too and I just wasn't having a good day. I was not feeling it at all so I just quit. Straight up bad day.

Although cambie beef dip and onion rings with chipotle mayo alongside a couple of beers is probably the best ending to a foodless/miserable day. It was an instant pick-me-upper! I'm going to do some studying for my test tomorrow and just go to bed I think. I am pooped.

Feathers and Pearls

It's Saturday night and I'm at home...

You know why?

Because tomorrow my new roommate starts moving stuff in, and today my old roommate just moved out, and I have no time to clean ever so this house is a fricking disaster pit so I am going to clean tonight.

I do like though that it is now almost 10pm and I'm still fucking the dog on cleaning. Awesome.

Today was a really fun day. I had two great clients. One of which wanted about 8-10 inches of hair cut off which was friggen crazy but awesome. We did a short womens cut on her where the longest piece was at the bottom of her ear. It was suuuuuuuuper cute though and so exhilerating. Whenever we cut our Judy dolls we're only allowed to cut about an inch off at a time, so anytime I cut more than that off I feel like I'm doing something "wrong." Today I got over that fear I think haha. I had to cut about 6 inches off before I could even start the rest of the haircut. It was awesome.

In the afternoon I had another appointment booked. I had a woman come in about 3 weeks ago for a haircut, I told her I would be there until May so if she needed a haircut before then that she could most definitely come back to me. I gave her my name and sure enough, 3 weeks later she rebooked with me! She wanted more layers so we did those up and she loved it. It was really exciting though because this is my first real client that's not a friend or family member that has come back to me. After we were done her cut she said she would be back again before I graduate and that she wants to know where I end up after I graduate because she wants me to be her hairdresser now! It was so exciting! It's a pretty cool feeling when you do someones hair that you don't know and they come back to you. It's almost humbling because you're like "oh wow they really liked it last time! They weren't just saying they did and then never coming back again and talking bad about me to all of their friends!"

So overall I had a really good day today. It's going to be quite sad when I'm not in school anymore. I know that I'll get in a salon and it'll be fun but I'm definitely going to miss all the girls from my class. Jessica and I were saying we'll probably cry when we have to say goodbye hahaha. Good thing we plan on being drunk as skunks so that it won't seem embarrassing at the time!

Well.. agh I guess I shouldn't even be wasting time blogging. I should probably go make myself useful at some point... although now I've started playing guitar so it might be a bit longer yet before I do something.. ugh ZERO motivation

Dirka Dirka

Oh Good day.

Last night I went to Alicia's place to cut her hair for her and FINALLY caught up with her after friggen TWO months. We didn't realize it had been so long till we stopped and thought "wow was the last time I saw you... no... that can't be?" ...

Well it was. So we had TONS to catch up on and we ended up gabbing away until midnight. It always turns out that way.

I really have nothing to blog about today in particular. I haven't been up to a whole lot today. I've found a few new songs I really want to learn and one of them is actually "heartless" by Kanye West. However I'm going to learn the William Fitzsimmons version because it is BEAUTIFUL. Laugh all you want but it's amazing. http://www.myspace.com/williamfitzsimmons ...Listen to his shit and love it.

Another song I want to learn is Laura Marling - My manic and I ... as well as "Oh boy" by Duffy.

So that's a bit of what I've been up to I suppose. I'm in seclusion right now from life because it's a much easier way to NOT spend money. Also because things are finally quieting down after the holiday bid-ness.

I found some whoreish pictures on my computer and some not-so-whoreish pictures that are all quite old now. About 3-5 years old so I thought I would share a few. That'll be my post for the day, random trip back to when I was fat and had short hair and facial piercings.

Speaking of short hair, I'm taking a day off of work on Monday and I'm going to get my hair chopped off. It needs it in a serious way. I like that my hair is grown out but I don't like that it's not healthy right now. I always say there's no point in having long hair if it looks like shit, so I have no particular attachment to keeping my hair the length it is. So I THINK Katie-Rose is going to cut off about 5 inches ish? haha.

I really want to go dirtbiking. I've never been dirtbiking. Anyone wanna teach me? I think that'd be a pretty good time right now hah!

Anyways... this blog is just pointless random sporatic bullshit so here's those pictures to conclude the craziness

Does it look like her and I could be sisters? Because I feel like we look like sisters in this picture...

Everything Has Changed

Jon spent last weekend here before leaving for his three week trip to Europe.

It was another great weekend even though we had a crappy last day together. I still feel awful for that. My emotions sometimes wear thin and he had a bad day, and I had a bad day, and then when they combined it made for a really really shitty day.

I don't even know where I want to start. I want to write about the weekend but sometimes I like keeping certain things to myself because they're my own little special memories that are almost like secrets.

I will share something really cool and quite personal though and something I haven't brought up for quite some time now (which pleases me greatly.)

Ever since my ex and I broke up I've invested myself more into music than ever before. It is something that is extremely therapeutic for me, as it is for many. What's really been my saving grace though is playing guitar again.

After we broke up I came home and didn't really know what to do. I was on msn of all things and I talked to my friend Mark. He told me to come over and we'd go for a walk so I did. He opened the door and gave me a huge hug to which my immediate reaction was to cry. We went for a walk and talked about things and then went back to his house. He let me borrow his acoustic so that I had something to distract me and keep me busy. I wasn't sure how much I would play but I quickly latched onto it and played relentlessly. I don't even know where to begin to thank him for that because I'm not sure he even knows just how much it helped me.

I play as much now as I did when I got my first guitar and the feeling is amazing. It has been one thing that has honestly helped heal me because I can just get lost in it. I put all of my focus and attention on learning something or playing something and truly feeling it. Every ounce of my emotion goes into it and it puts me in a state of mind that is more comforting than almost anything.

I held onto Marks guitar for an entire 6 months. I just gave it back to him on Thursday. I had been meaning to give it back to him for the last two months but our schedules never really worked out.

Jon loves it when I play. I'm not even that good at it but it's a strange feeling when you play music and someone closes their eyes just to listen. It's amazing, really.

I had told him I would be giving Mark his guitar back after the weekend and would have to buy one when I could afford it. I figured it would be a month or two before I'd be able to find something on craigslist that was decent and affordable.

Little did I know that I would return home the next day. Jon handed me a business card for Tom Lee Music, and on the back of that card was written "I love you. Check out under your bed."

My first reaction was "fuck off," of course because I'm vulgar and don't know what to say when people do nice things for me.

I pulled out a box that had writing all over it. I sat there and read each little message still in complete shock.

I cried as I read each thing. It was something so cool I can't even explain. This meant more than any piece of jewellry, any other gift really. Music is my heart and since I have always lived through it, to give me something that is so incredibly important to me in my life is something truly amazing. To add to the fact the situation at hand combined with an incredible bond between him and I, it was overwhelming.

I opened the box to a guitar that had never been played by anyone else. It was horribly out of tune but Jon was adamant that the guy who sold it to him didn't touch it. He wanted me to be the first to play it and so I was.

I was supposed to study for a test I had but instead I sat there, tuned the guitar and played until dinner. It sounds beautiful and I love everything about it. The neck is a little more narrow so it fits my hand and fingers perfectly. The body is also a little thinner/smaller which again, fits me perfectly. It couldn't have been a more perfect fit.

It was definitely a remarkable gift that I am very thankful for.

I should probably get some sleep now that the coffee I had earlier is wearing off and sleepiness is setting in. Took long enough.

Today was a bad day for the most part. School actually makes me feel better but the rest of the day was definitely crap. Although something really cool did happen today but I can't blog about that yet. Soon enough.

This song is a beautifully sad song. William Fitzsimmons and Priscilla Ahn - I don't feel it anymore. You have to listen to it. I love everything by him though, he is amazing.

The Neverending Story

I wish it was actually this colour, but it's totally not. It's so faded right now and I have gross roots.

I'll still have to take a picture with the actual bangs part.

I bought a capo today for my guitar. I have fallen even more in love with playing now since I can actually play a lot more songs that I've wanted to learn, and be able to sing to them as well.

So great.

I still have to do the dishes. Yughy.

Ashley moves out soon and Danielle moves in. I'll have one night to get the house cleaned. So little time.

A White Blank Page And A Swelling Rage

So many things have been happening holy crap do I have some catching up to do.

So as promised I had some pictures from last weekend. Not many but a couple so I might as well load them onto here.

I've been having a lot of trouble keeping up with this blog thing lately. I'm really busy so to find a good solid hour to sit down and write my bullshit down is actually quite a difficult thing to do. My facebook is relatively kept up sadly, and so is my twitter but that's about it.

So what is it I've been up to? Okay well lets start with last weekend.

Andrea got to my house on Friday and was staying with me until Sunday. I was stressed to the tits about things and I've been wearing pretty thin emotion wise. I was a little worried about what that weekend was going to be like because Andrea was going through some things and I wasn't sure how stressful of a weekend it would be but it actually turned out great.

We have this thing where we love to hear eachother sing. She was the first person I would ever even sing in front of and so a lot of the time we like to just listen to music, play music, sing, and be idiots. So that was precisely what we did. We spent a lot of time just hanging out. Not joking, I actually had a minor melt down and cried. It was nice though to be able to have her around because I could actually talk to her comfortably and get a little bit of shit that's been bothering me off of my chest.

On Saturday there was a canucks game and my friend Mason was in town for it with his friend Melissa who I met in September. Not joking, this girl has got to be one of the funniest people I've ever met. So we met up with them downtown for a couple hours since Andrea and Mason grew up together and hadn't seen eachother in years. It was a great night.

Andrea and Mase

Melissa and I

Melissa drunk as a skunk fist pumping while playing a mini harmonica necklace. Purely amazing.

This poor guy was on a date with some broad and Melissa was making him laugh the WHOLE time. She gave him her mini harmonica necklace... meanwhile the girl he was with just sat there awkwardly the whole time. Talk about weird.

Fist pumping like fuckin' champs!

i
Besties for sure <3>

This picture is exactly what it looks like.

We got home and ended up staying up till about 5 in the morning. I had school the next day so I was running off about 2 and a half hours of sleep. I was pretty exhausted but it wasn't all bad. I didn't have to do my hair on Sunday because the fabulous Katie-Rose was going to cut it for me. So I FINALLY cut my hair after SIX MONTHS! ... I haven't gone that long without cutting my hair since I can't remember when.

She did a really great job. It's super layered which I love. Gives it some shape. I've worn it down every day since I got it cut (except for today because I was a greasy hobo and totally didn't shower this morning.)

Since then I've already changed it. I had Jessica throw some panels of orange in my hair, including one in my bangs. It's a triangle section of hair on the left side of my bangs. It makes for a cute asymmetrical look. On Sunday I'm going to touch up the red (my roots are disgusting already) and then it'll be all fancy again. Then I plan on doing an asymmetrical cut too, well, at least the bangs. Maybe I'll take some pictures tomorrow of my new colour and the new haircut. I look like an uber douche in the pictures with K-Ro.

It never stops now haha. Mainly the reason I seem to be doing something to my hair every weekend is because we only get 2 hours to do eachothers hair. It's not enough time to do a cut and colour, if I did both at the same time then I wouldn't have to keep doing it every friggen weekend. But HOPEFULLY after this weekend I won't have to do it the next weekend.

School is going amazing. I'm getting 10/10 on a lot of my stuff now which is a great feeling. We're almost half way through the course already which I can't believe. I am going to miss being at school so bad. I love the girls in my class and it's just such a nice place to be when you love it as much as I do.

This was one of my updos from last weekend. I got a "10+" on it which was a pretty sweet ego booster, not gonna lie. Even though our marks really don't mean shit. They're just there to tell us roughly how we're doing.

HAHA I purposely got Jess in this shot and she totally looks like a disgruntled old man. We probably laughed about this picture for a solid 3 minutes. It doesn't even remotely look like her.

My camera died before I could take a picture of the other side but at least I was able to get a sweet shot of Jess and a couple shots of the updo itself.

I have Danielle coming in on Sunday so I can practice another updo on real people hair because Judy's hair is pretty sick. You can't ever get a nice smooth finish on it there's effing fly-aways everywhere no matter how much you hairspray. It just looks like crap. I'm so excited. Rupi (my hairdresser from Fort) is also in town this weekend and I believe she's going to come in for some highlights! Woohoo! I'm so nervous though, it's like the student teaching the teacher or something.

The weekend that just passed was another crazy one. I'll blog a little more in detail about that on my next blog. Jon was here for 4 nights/5 days which was nice. Not going to lie though I am exhausted right now. There's just so much shit going on with that that it does drain you even when you try not to let it. We had a pretty great weekend though.

He randomly surprised me by buying me a guitar. Yes you heard that correctly. I'll take pictures of everything and actually blog about everything but yes, it is a very beautiful guitar and I absolutely love it.

I officially have a new roommate. Well, she moves in at the end of the month but she has been chosen. Her name is Danielle haha. Kinda funny. She seems really great so I'm looking forward to that. She came over tonight to give rent cheques and pay the damage deposit etc so that was done and dealt with.

I think sometime in the next couple of weeks I really need to get a girls night planned with Alicia, Danielle and Melissa *cough HINT* ... Seriously though it's been forever and I miss them all so dearly.

I've been totally hooked on a band called "Mumford and Sons" since Andrea showed them to me last week. Go check them out on youtube they are phenomenal. My favourites by them right now are "Little Lion Man," "White Blank Page," "The Cave," "Awake My Soul," and "Dustbowl Dance."
